"More Uncertain" Hacking (Sandbox)

Hacking as it is now doesn't leave much room for tense ambiguity in its core mechanics, but at the same time how things go depends heavily on who's watching the system.

As such, the problem dice mechanic is changed to work as follows, and the hacker does not get to know what the problem die result was.

Table: Hacking Success

Roll value relative to difficulty Problem Dice
0 (equal to difficulty) to 1 2 Serious Dice
2-3 1 Serious Die
4-6 1 Hitch Die
7+ No Dice

Table: Or Maybe This Hacking Success Table Would Be Better

Roll value relative to difficulty Problem Dice
0 (equal to difficulty) 2 Serious Dice
1 1 Serious Die and 2 Hitch Dice
2 1 Serious Die and 1 Hitch Die
3 1 Serious Die
4 2 Hitch Dice
5 1 Hitch Die
6+ No Dice

Table: Serious Die (d12)

Roll Value Problem
1 Hack fails, the target is alerted to the hack attempt, and knows your ID,
and is given continuous updates on what you're trying to do with the hack so they can pretend that it's working.
2 The target becomes aware of the hack and your ID.
3 The target becomes aware of the hack, but not your ID.
4 Everyone involved, including yourself, becomes aware of the hack and your ID.
5-12 No effect.

Table: Hitch Die (d12)

Roll Value Problem
1 The target becomes aware of the hack and your ID.
2-12 No effect.

Connect Secretly (Difficulty 1): Connect to a non-internet network without your ID being shown to everyone watching the system. When connecting to the internet, so many IDs are connecting and disconnecting all the time that this hack is unnecessary. This hack does not let you secretly attach someone's non-internet network to the internet.

Monitor Connections does not reveal hacker connections unless their IDs are already known.

Monitoring: if a hacker attempts to send a hack past you without you noticing it, they know your Hackability Score and that you are Monitoring the connection.

Monitoring Minus Hackers (same difficulty): As monitoring, but it doesn't let you read or detect hacks, and hackers don't automatically become aware of your monitoring.

Locate Physically continues to indicate the last position of your ID if you disconnect or change to a different ID.

Burglar tells you how many of your problem dice came up "Safe" (9 or higher) or "Dangerous" (8 or less).

Access Files (Difficulty 3, Maintained): You gain access to data files saved in the system. Each round, you can search the device for a keyword, group of keywords, image, or sound, and get the 20 most relevant results, or the 20 next most relevant results if continuing the same search. Every four rounds, you suffer another Hitch Die.
